How To Make Money Online Being A Virtual Assistant

The weekend of May 22nd saw another set of eager students assembled to learn how to make money online from the teaching of Internet Income Jamaica. These sessions were done by the able tutor Sue-Tanya McHorgh.

McHorgh led weekend sessions on learning to make money online by being a virtual assistant. She introduced herself by relating her story of how she began working online.

STARTING AS A VIRTUAL ASSISTANT

McHorgh had been a call centre operator working at a popular business process outsourcing company when she got laid off. This was due to the work being shifted to another call centre. At the time she had been doing tertiary education at UCC and pursuing a business degree. Additionally she also had a loan payment out at Courts to pay for furniture.

While trying to survive and getting assistance from relatives, McHorgh was fortunate to see a programme where Internet Income Jamaica CEO, Alicia Lyttle, was speaking about how to make money online with veteran journalist Cliff Hughes.

Having gotten the impetus, and with the job market looking dismal, McHorgh took the giant leap forward to implement some of the things she heard and was soon surprising herself. She began working online since 2013 with well received rewards for the work she had put in.

WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A VIRTUAL ASSISTANT

McHorgh made it clear that being a virtual assistant (VA) meant that a person was self-employed doing work online from tasks assigned from individuals. These individuals could be any professional seeking assistance including but not limited to accounting firms, attorneys, bankers, designers and other business persons.

Working as a virtual assistant allows a person to have a flexible schedule and deal with their normal everyday life while choosing when they work. One can work from anywhere once you have a computer and an internet connection. The job allows you to create and build your own business at your own pace. In the process, you also learn new skills and get to follow your passions.

STANDING OUT FROM THE CROWD

McHorgh questioned that with dozens of people working as virtual assistants online how would one stand out from the crowd. She then gave some tips on how to start getting good reviews.

On the online platform chosen one had to have a well written profile speaking about your skills in a telling fashion. You also have to be convincing enough for them to want to choose you and your services.

Your virtual assistant profile should have simple and catchy titles for the work you intend to do, ample descriptions and eye-catching images. Additionally note that video content attached to your profile will cause an over 200% conversion for persons to solicit your services.
