From Nine-Five to Nine to Thrive

Bold, optimistic, driven, and armed with passion and purpose, Nekesha Burrell collided with her destiny when the 2020 pandemic crashed her livelihood. Like many others, she landed into uncertainty. She found no contentment to wait for things to get better. Instead, she searched for opportunities online, and there she found her first wow moment, bumping into the sound of Alicia Lyttle issuing one of her many upbeat deliveries. “I was searching online for book writing sites and somehow came upon the voice of Alicia Lyttle talking about this fantastic opportunity to receive a grant from The N.C.B. Foundation to receive courses at Internet Income Jamaica. The timeline for the grant expired the following day at 9 am, so I wrote the essay and submitted it without another thought. I got a link to the Freelance 101 course and completed it in 1 day, and one week later, N.C.B. Foundation emailed me that I was awarded the grant.” 

Now one of Internet Income Jamaica’s biggest earners from the N.C.B. Foundation program, Nekesha is a fast emerging leader who invested heavily in her brand. Through her podcast The Freelancers’ Oasis, she inspires and motivates fellow online workers to follow suit, to “find true purpose, develop a positive mindset and just do it!” Her online workspace is a galaxy glowing with five-star ratings and satisfied clients. 

Dare to think this Superwoman was done making moves? Nekesha is now an Author of a powerful motivational book, Absolute Belief System, where she shares hope and empowerment messages. 

Nekesha credits the N.C.B. Foundation and Internet Income Jamaica for her consistent strides and success – “I am forever indebted to them both,” she says. “I have a wealth of value from the amazing courses done with Internet Income Jamaica and the know-how of how to apply each one to earn.” Her advice for the year ahead is to “Start learning how you can future proof yourself. Many doors have opened. Take that opportunity to head into the direction of progress for 2021.”
