Internet Income Jamaica’s CEO, Alicia Lyttle, Discusses The Level Up Programme Created to Help Jamaicans Affected By COVID-19 on TVJ Smile Jamaica
Think of three persons. Chances are, they have all been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic financially.
Since Jamaica’s first reported case of the virus in March, approximately 47,000 Jamaicans have lost their jobs, with the hotel and BPO sectors being hardest hit.
With a projected increase on the horizon, Internet Income Jamaica (IIJ) joined forces with The N.C.B. Foundation to provide training for online employment to Jamaicans who have lost jobs due to COVID-19. The initiative is known as The N.C.B. Level Up Grant Programme.
Under this program, successful candidates will gain access to a myriad of IIJ’s coveted online courses that will enable them to create online businesses immediately after completion – all FREE of cost.
Speaking on Jamaica’s number 1 morning program, TVJ’s Smile Jamaica, Alicia Lyttle, CEO of Internet Income Jamaica, said this is one of the best times to start an online business as many companies are now forced to go online to continue operations and are looking for remote workers to carry out various tasks. This has created an influx of jobs available, even for beginners.
Online job opportunities run the gamut from graphic designers to virtual assistants. Internet Income Jamaica has been successfully training persons to set up and run profitable online businesses since the year 2010. The wide range of courses includes web design, transcription, graphic design, social media management, telemarketing, blogging, and SEO Optimization.
Training is broken down to bite-size increments in step-by-step tutorials to ensure no one gets left behind. Internet Income Jamaica also provides support groups to assist in setting up and operating an online business. Once training is complete, individuals are encouraged to use their newly found skills to set up online gigs and start earning as soon as possible.
The Grant program closed on May 22nd, 2020 with training starting on June 1st 2020.
